Mourning Ed Cooke

We are sad to report on the death of longstanding Liberal Democrat member Ed Cooke. A dedicated campaigner in Islington since 2005, the determination, loyalty and support of people like Ed were instrumental to our historical successes. His commitment to the party and the causes we fight for never wavered, even after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in his late forties.
Through his involvement in the local party, Ed built strong friendships with many fellow members. Recently, he had moved back to Islington to be closer to friends who could support and uplift him in the later stages of his illness. Sadly, he left us sooner than expected, dying of a heart attack on 1 February.
Motor Neurone Disease is a cruel illness but Ed, determined to continue to apply his legal expertise, became a trustee of the MND Association last year, helping them in their vital search for a cure. If you knew Ed, we encourage you to make a donation to the MND Association in his memory.
As a party, we stand on the hard work of activists who came before us. Ed gave so much of his time, energy, and passion. He will be greatly missed.
