The Archway Campus holds immense potential, yet it currently sits quiet and unused—a reminder of the challenges many Londoners face in finding affordable, quality housing. Rising rents and uncertain tenancies make the question of "home" a constant concern across the city. For Liberal Democrat candidate Rebecca Jones, the future of this campus represents an opportunity to create something genuinely valuable for the community—a space that offers high-quality, affordable homes for local families, rooted in the character of the neighbourhood.

There is currently a proposal to develop a tall residential tower on this site, and while this could bring renewed energy to the area, concerns have been raised about the extent of community involvement in the planning process. “Too often, big developers build for profit, not for people,” says Rebecca Jones Liberal Democrat Candidate for junction ward By-election, who believes that development projects often fail to consider the needs and desires of existing residents. “Our community deserves spaces that feel like they belong to us, not just to developers,” she adds.

Jones emphasizes the Liberal Democrats’ commitment to putting people over profits in development decisions. “If elected, I won’t just agree to any plan developers want,” she promises. “I’ll work to ensure Archway Campus becomes a site for affordable, high-quality homes—places where local families feel welcome and comfortable, free from hidden costs and cheap designs.”

Rather than opposing all development, Jones advocates for a balanced approach that respects the community’s voice. She envisions an Archway Campus that reflects the unique qualities of the neighbourhood, integrating with the existing landscape rather than overshadowing it. “There’s a way forward that doesn’t mean saying ‘no’ to everything or letting developers take over completely,” she says. “Together, we can make this campus an asset for our area, something we can all take pride in.”

With Rebecca Jones’s as junction ward next Councillor, Archway Campus could transform into a vibrant and inclusive space, a real home for current and future generations.
